What was the traditional Indian perspective towards Nature and the place of man in the ecosystem? What did it advocate in terms of ecologically appropriate behaviour and how did it inspire a sensitivity towards Nature ? Why have we lost touch with this perspective and would it be worth the effort to revive it?
This session would be held online and is aimed at environmentalists and conservationists. It will question many of the paradigms of Western science that the green movement is built upon. The focus is on changing mindsets to inspire ecologically appropriate behaviour among Indians.
This is the first of a series of sessions on
Ecology in Indian Knowledge Systems.
