MUDITA WELLGROVE
Organic farming and community supported agriculture
'Mudita' is a Pali word that connotes 'joy in the happiness of others'. The Mudita Wellgrove came from a desire to create a space that allowed people to experience the beauty of Nature. Two friends, Bhagyashree and Shabana, after having worked for several years in the city, decided to connect with nature by starting to farm on this family land (plot of 2 acres) that was available in the village of Kambre, Tal Bhor, District Pune. In the first year (2017), they started with planting native trees in one section of the farm and doing trials of annual cropping in the other section. In the next year, (2018) it was decided that one person needed to be living on the farm to make progress and Bhagyashree offerred to do this. To enable her stay, a small house was created using an old shipping container. Soon they found their third team member, Snehal from the local village of Kambre. Snehal soon became an equally important pillar of the farm and from a duo who had started out they became an enthusiastic trio.
The farm is a natural farm where following the method of permaculture and more recently syntropic farming. The aim is to cultivate a healthy food forest and grow fruits and vegetables such that all the people staying on the farm can eat the food grown on the farm.At Mudita Wellgrove they believe in maintaining a balanced healthy eco system and work towards the same systematically.
The vision is to create a food forest where they will have fresh organic food for families and to develop the farm as a learning centre.

Shabana Diler and Bhagyashree Khaire have both spent several years working in the social sector. Shabana oversees Mudita homestays and visitors experiences. Bhagyashree is a post graduate in Arts with several years of working experience in the health sector. She has also done a course on permaculture in Goa and is currently implementing her agricultural learnings at Mudita. She aspires to grow many many trees and build lots of forests in the future. Their background in the social sector also inspires them to help the local village and its residents in several ways.

TESTIMONIALS
We stayed at Mudita farms twice, and found the experience very pleasant. It's a quiet place, open to nature, surrounded by fields and hillocks ideal for walking and trekking. The staff is very helpful. Food made from locally grown vegetables and grains, was particularly nice and healthy. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a short getaway from city life....

It's a lovely quaint no-frills place in a village surrounded by small mountains that can be trekked easily. one can chill and enjoy away from the din of the city (just an hour plus drive from Wakad, Pune)...The owners are amazing folks and will make you feel at home. And you can learn a lot about farming if ,you wish too. Will visit again soon.

I visited the farm and enjoyed my stay. I was surprised that there were no mosquitoes at this time. It got very cold in the night and I had to use 3 thin blankets. Enjoyed local food like "bhakari", jams, fruits etc and visit to water reservoir, village and walk upto hills. I like quite rural setting away from daily city life for a change. My friend Mr Nanda brought very powerful telescope for sky watching and it was great fun to see moon with craters and nebula etc. Staff at farm is very nice and ever ready to help and provides lots of local information. I will definitely recommend if you are looking for a getaway just an hour's drive away from city.
