Vakratunda Mahakaaya Suryakoti Samaprabha ....

The Lord with the curved trunk and a mighty body, who has the luster of a million suns.....

This Ganesh Chaturthi, eCoexist salutes the elephantine form of Sri Ganesha that reminds us of the importance of coexistence of humans and wildlife. While we worship this unique and adorable form of Ganesha, we will be raising funds to help conserve wild elephant populations in North Kanara through the work of the Wildlife Research and Conservation Society, Pune.

For the past eleven years eCoexist has been promoting the use of natural materials in the celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi – to help reduce pollution of waters with chemical substances.
The intention behind our work is to reconnect Indian festivals to their origins in Nature and to sensitise people to the impact their celebration has on the natural environment. We have been creating eco-friendly idols made from natural clay, painted with turmeric, geroo and multani mitti

Plaster of Paris and chemical paints pollute water bodies when we immerse idols made of these into lakes and rivers. We have been reviving the traditional practise of using natural clay and pigments which conserve water resources. The idols we create can be immersed in a bucket of water in your house, and used to water plants.

The Nisargaraya Eco Ganesh range has nearly 32 designs ranging from six inches to 3 feet, available in biodegradable materials such as natural clay, paper mache and painted with natural pigments such as turmeric and multani mitti.

We also have a range of miniature Ganesh idols that are meant only for visarjan - these can be kept alongside a larger idol and require much less water for the immersion.
